I went and looked at a C5 Corvette yesterday. I think I'd rather have one than a C6. The front end of the C5 looks better, and the interior of the C6 isn't better enough to justify the $$$$.
I want it to be white with black wheels, and I'll get the roof and crossbar vinyl wrapped black. Like this C6, only C5:
If someone could photochop this to have a black roof (including the bar that runs behind the seats) and black wheels, I'd appreciate it
I'd go non-Z06 because it looks better and I want dat Targa. Manual + HUD are a must. Target will be 60,000 miles or less, $18,000 or less. Target ownership date Spring/Summer 2016
Oh, and those curious, thoughts on the C5: Interior seemed as well appointed as the C6. The C6 had newer and nicer gadgets, with a touchscreen infotainment, push button start, etc, but the overall layout of the interior is exactly the same, and frankly the C5 touchpoints felt better. This C5 was shit, the interior was falling apart and not in very good condition. I didn't get to drive it, but I did play with the roof. I absolutely don't see a need for a convertible with the targa, you get plenty of sun with the roof off. The hatch is cavernous, and the way the roof stores is really smart, and there's actually still a good amount of space back there with the roof off. The back of the C6 looks better than the C5, but I prefer the C5's front.

You'd be forgoing that LS3 though, which is no joke. When they were new, some folks on LS1 tech were air cleaner-swapping their way into 11s. The pop-up headlights are also something to consider. GM was always rubbish with those (ask me how I know... -_-)

The C6 is a much better car though. It's got the LS3, it has a much better interior, better buil quality, and it doesn't have the C5's hideous steering wheel.

so you want it to look more like a 4th gen camaro? The ttop cars got the hoop black as well. Some targas had a glass insert instead of painted one

But they are much more expensive....If the prices come down in the next 2 years I'll go that route, but a C5 is more realistic.

It's mostly price. If the C6's come down into the sub $20k range for one with ~60,000 miles I'll get one, but I'd rather save a bit and get a C5 for a few years. Keep it for a few years and wait for C7's to depreciate

If I can find one with the acrylic targa I'd like that, but that's kinda rare. They can be bought so I'd be tempted to buy one.
I don't want it to look more like a Camaro, I just want a black roof.

C5 is better because pop up headlights. I could 'shoop it, but the wheels would be a PITA.

Interiors can be fixed up a little.

I think the interior is fine as is except for the steering wheel. That looks great, but a 5 point harness would be overkill for a daily

yeah, I've got a quick release on the wheel and I put the horn button on the top of the column. If you don't need the quick release, you can get the wheels with the horn button. As for seats, I had a sparco evo in there before the containment seat and loved them...could go long distances no problem and I left the factory slide in there.

Did the red paneling come from the factory?

Yep, kinda rare. out of the 10 Black c5z's I looked at, this was the only one with a two-tone interior.
